Mayor opens purpose-built business park, the E.B.L. Centre

A purpose-built business park - specially designed for the area’s small and expanding businesses - has been officially opened by Mayor of Halton, Cllr Mrs Kath Loftus.

The Enterprise Business & Logistics Centre on Picow Farm Road, Runcorn - developed by the Halton-based EBL Group of construction companies - offers 19 self-contained workshop and trade centre units, ranging in size from 850 to 1850 square feet.

During the official opening of the EBL Centre recently, the Mayor was given a guided tour of the development by EBL Group Chief Executive Edward Basnett. During a short address, Mr Basnett welcomed the mayoral party to “one of the very few business parks specifically created for the area’s small businesses”. He also thanked Halton Council for its support and encouragement in the initiative.

“Because my own company grew from modest beginnings in the Borough of Halton, we know the area well... we know the people well... and we know what small businesses need to help their progress to a successful future,” said Mr Basnett. “So, because this is our patch, we have tried to incorporate into the EBL Centre everything possible to help the businesses of Halton.”

The new business park is set in landscaped grounds and provides ample employee and visitor parking, just a few minutes’ walk from Runcorn town centre and railway station. However, businesses based at the centre will also benefit from its close proximity to some of the best road networks in the north west of England.

Units at the EBL Centre are for sale or to let, and already various specialist businesses are waiting to move in to premises. They include a long-established local glazing company, vending machine specialists, manufacturers of high-tech control systems for the bakery industry, and even a racing car preparation team.

“What we have created is a very pleasing and convivial working environment which - judging from current commercial enquiries - will very quickly become a thriving centre of business,” added Mr Basnett.
