The Board has now appointed its first ever “Enterprise Champion”, Eddie Basnett, managing director of EBL Group Ltd, of Sutton Weaver, Runcorn. Its board consists of local entrepreneurs with the experience of running their own businesses who are keen to share their knowledge and expertise with those who are just setting out in business on their own.

As Enterprise Champion Mr Basnett will be an ambassador for the many services offered to new businesses by Enterprising Halton.

Mr Basnett said: “As a local-boy-made-good with deep family roots in this area, I am delighted – and a little humbled – to be able to promote enterprise in Runcorn and Widnes. I have built up my own company from scratch and since locating to Halton some ten years ago; EBL has continuously expanded to become a £10 million group, employing more than 100 local people.

“Halton is a great place to work and develop a business and I am pleased to be able to share my experiences with the borough’s entrepreneurs.”
